Brainchild of percussionist Bonjo Iyabinghi Noah and playing experimental mashups of African fusion. Began as a dub reggae act in the early 1980s but very quickly branched out into many areas from sacred chants to pschedelic trances to chillout grooves. He has realeased a lot of material over the years in sporadic bursts. The strong African percussion is the one constant, over layers of electronic grroves, samples, and other assorted goodies. Bonjo is clearly willing to try anything and record anything and some of his music is just plain weird, but you have to admire the effort and pure love of music that he shows always. He has tended to be far more popular at outdoor festivals than on radio or in clubs; his CDs are hard to find and some have been discontinued. He currently lives in Ghana and we can hope for more music from him.
